The Adelaide Fringe Festival is a contemporary and alternative arts and culture festival held annually in the South Australian capital of Adelaide. The event is Australia's and the Southern Hemisphere's largest arts event and the second-largest fringe festival in the world. The Adelaide Fringe offers a massive selection of shows, with the festival being held over 24 days and nights in February and March of every year. It consists of hundreds of cabaret, comedy, dance, theatre, music, and visual arts events, artists squeeze shows into every nook and cranny around town creating a wonderful collection of weird and eccentric venues.
The biggest festival in the southern hemisphere, the Fringe completely takes over the entire city of Adelaide during the warm months of summer. Highlights of the event include a huge opening night party, parade and concert, street theatre, the Garden of Unearthly Delights and Fringe Family Weekend. The Adelaide Fringe is a unique experience and a must see for interstate and overseas visitors who travel to Adelaide to enjoy the festival's exciting arts performances and party atmosphere. In 2011, the festival will be held from 18 February to 13 March.
