Coolangatta Accommodation
Coolangatta is situated at the southern part of the Gold Coast 30 min drive from Surfers Paradise and 5 min to the Coolangatta Airport. Coolangatta is on the boarder between Queensland and New South Wales and shares the point with Tweed Heads. Coolangatta boasts some of the region's most beautiful beaches and best surfing. The most difficult surf break is at Port Danger while Kirra is also popular among the more experienced surfers. The rugged headland of Point Danger gives way to delightful Rainbow Bay where gentle surf offers a safe haven to small children. Further north is the tree-studded Greenmount headland, the perfect vantage point to watch the sun rise over crystal waters. Rainbow Bay and Greenmount Beach offer gentler breaks better for beginner surfers. There are several alfresco bistros and cafes close to the beach and on the second Sunday of the month, market stalls are set up along the beachfront where you can browse through local handicrafts. Each June Coolangatta hosts the Wintersun Festival, a two-week 1950s and 1960s nostalgia festival with free entertainment and attractions, including hot rods, restored cars and revival bands playing music of the era.

Coolangatta offers loads of activities such as dive sites at Kirra and Cook Island to the south. Stand on Point Danger to spot dolphins, see circling birds and spy migrating humpback whales. Shopping, dining and markets on the second Sunday of the month make this an entertainment precinct. Events are plentiful with Wintersun in June celebrating rock and roll, and A La Carte on the Beach is a food feast in September.
