Southport Accommodation and Hotels

Southport
If it's the hustle and bustle of a big city atmosphere you're looking for, but while still in sight of the wonderful beaches, give Southport a try. With nearly 30,000 people, Southport is one of the largest communities on Australia's Gold Coast, but that doesn't mean you can't have a good time. In fact, Southport is considered the prime entertainment spot on the Gold Coast, so whether you're a night owl or an early riser, Southport will have just the activities for you.

Just six minutes from the great beach spot Surfers Paradise to the south, and right across the Nerang River from Main Beach, this is one of the best areas to stay if you're looking to spend most of your Gold Coast holiday on the beach. Great parks like Anzac and Washington Waters Park allow you to walk along the river while staring out at all the great boats on the water and swimmers across the way.

Boating is a great pastime, and the Southport Yacht Club as well as a number of smaller marinas will be a perfect spot for a great boat hire experience. Grab your favorite pole and visit the many creeks and waterways, or do some deep-sea fishing when you take a charter boat.

Shopping certainly won't be a problem when you choose Southport for your holiday getaway. Australia Fair has over 230 different stores, and the Southport Mall is sure to have the ones they don't. Southport's central location on the Gold Coast makes hitting all the major shopping centers in the area easy, and you'll be able to catch all your favorites in a day.

And fine dining is just around the corner at spots like Daniel Start Fine Food and Mestige Restaurant for Modern Australian cuisine. If a trip around the world is more to your liking, try Bella Luna Garden Restaurant for Mediterranean or Basilico for Italian. Many sidewalk cafes will also cater to those mid-afternoon cravings, without breaking the bank.
